So I'll try this again tonight..... Fell asleep typing on my phone last night - attempting to do this post.
I'll share some pics over the next day or so of my grossly underestimated time needed to extract a tree and plant it out back in the back corner of our sloping yard (where it will always get runoff water and septic spray too.
The tree is oak. It's about 15' tall. The trunk is about 8-10" at the base. The geologic stone layer is a serious delay for the move.
The Cub cadet and Kelly series20 BH are doing very impressive so far.
Physics has been my honest companion during this project the first two scrub trees I moved without a hitch and they are still budding out just fine.
Several of these stones are modestly in the 500-1000 lb range. A few are likely surpassing the 1K estimate. 2 of them I used a chain around them - one at a time; and dragged them to the stone pile.....
I'd safely estimate I've got about 14-16 hours of legit BH & bucket time so far. Translation= I seriously doubt I'd of been this far along with my hand tools and the 20HP riding mower at the end of September of this year if I was doing 6-8hrs a day manual labor style. it's been a 30 minutes this day, 1-4hrs that day and such.
