How often does your tractor Regen?

I have a 2015 L3901 with the new Tier IV Final emissions. I have around 62 hrs on the tractor now and it has not gone into regen at all yet. just curious as to what hours most are seeing before the first regen and in between regens? Thanks!

Allot of Tier 4 Final designs use a 20-30hr "cleanse" instead of a regen every 8-10hrs. Our (Case) new wheel loaders and excavators do this, where as the Tier 4 Interim did an actual regen.

Confirm with your dealer the period yours should be re-gening. If it hasent, perhaps you need to be running it hotter or at a higher RPM's to let the engine know to regen.

My Kubota L3560 requires regeneration approximately every 60 engine hours.

my tractor spends most of its time at PTO speed so I know im running the RPMs high enough for it. when im not mowing I still try to keep it up around 2k because of the dealer telling me the worst thing I could do is putt putt around on it. so that shouldn't be an issue.

Jeff...from seeing your answer I should be seeing a regen any time now.

the reason I ask is I have heard all the Tier IV issues and want to keep a check on everything. Thanks!

Also, may have regened and you missed it. Unless you catch a wiff of different exhaust or notice the dash light you could not notice.

I have smelled the exhaust change before but got no dash light. dealer told me it will "active regen" when running it hard enough and that will not set off the dash light. but the manual says it will light up the dash light any time its in regen. I only smelled the exhaust for a short time. same smell my truck does (2014 Duramax) when its in regen. maybe it has and just didn't set off the dash light. wish it would so I would know and not shut the tractor down in the middle of the regen process

that was around 53 hrs when I smelled the exhaust change..but it was only for about 5 min that it gave off the different smell

Don't think any Kabota do a "mini regen" like I think Kioti does. Pretty sure light should come on. Mine takes about 15 min.

That's what I thought too...I just assumed it was from working the tractor hard. was mowing some thick baiha (sp) grass with a 7' finish mower when I noticed the smell but as I said before, no light on the dash and it only lasted a few min. I have been looking for the light for the last 20 hours or so expecting it to regen lol

My 3301 did its first regen at 45.5 hrs
It all depends on how high the rpms are(more idle time more regen)
same tractor at work has had 3 now at 73 hrs

Two regens in 36 hours for me. Obviously, not working it real hard with mostly grapple work and some FEL work.

I have the exact same tractor and I go through one about every 24 hours. I work mine at about 2000 rpm and when the light comes on I kick it up to 23/24 for about 10 minutes when the light goes out. And it definitely smells!

Thanks for the replies guys! this tractor spends 75% of its life with a 7' finish mower behind it at 540 pto speed so im sure that has a lot to do with not having a regen yet. I do remember when I bought my truck brand new it went twice the miles that other guys were saying was normal for a regen before the first one...then after that they come like clock work at 500 miles lol. maybe im experiencing that again with the tractor.

I have a larger tractor, M135GX. During the first 400 hours it would regen from 15 to 22 hours. Last winter they replaced the computer due to a rough power shift complaint I had from day one and now it goes from 40 to 70 hours. One lucky thing my larger tractor has is the ability to display DPF temperature and percentage plugged. Last week I had one day when I was working it extremely hard and I gained only 2% in that day. The next day, easier implement, and I gained 8% in my 10 hour day. The dealer mechanic said the computer does not only use pressure sensors to establish regen frequency but uses other parameters in its calls. The day it went up only 2% - hard pull, DPF temperature seldom below 1,000 degrees. DPF temp I see during regen is 1080 to 1125. The second day with lighter pull DPF temp was normally in the 900 to 1000 range. My tractor is one of the first M135GX's built so the computer change reflects user experience. It also now defaults to auto regen. With the first computer I always had to push the auto button every time I started. Now I found out if I press auto it is actually inhibit. So even for one model there may be different regen times depending on the year the tractor was built.

Thanks MHarryE! my button defaults to auto on my L3901. I get home from offshore tomorrow and will be working the tractor a good bit while im in so I should see a regen at some point. I just want to make sure that everyone else has a light come on the dash when it is in regen so that I am not wasting my time looking out for it and when it does come on I know to not shut the tractor down and let it finish the cycle

My L3901 is about the same and I do the same thing when the regen light comes on.

I've also got the same tractor. Mine did it's 1st regen at 8 hrs but I think the fuel that came in it wasn't as clean. it was offroad diesel and filled up the water seperator. Most of my running has been at 2400rpm (540pto) pulling either a 72" finishing mower or a 60" bush hog. 2nd regen came at 38 hrs. Tractor now has 65 hrs and hasn't done 3 rd regen yet. Both times light on dash came on and stayed on for approx. 15 min. Hope that helps.

My first regen on my 3901 happened at 38hrs. Im only at 42 hrs now so not sure on the second yet. I did notices right away from the smell and looked down to see the light on the dash. Took about 15 mins for the light to go off. I kept mowing the whole time and other than the smell I would have never known.

My L3301 hit 15.1 hrs and went into its first regeneration. I raised the Rpms up to 2300 until the rpm increase light went off and let it run. The outside temp was 40 degrees. It finished and light went off 18 minutes later.
(Only reason I know is I had read about it here and was curious as this is my first exposure to the whole thing)
