How sturdy IS the PT adapter plate?

I used my bare plate to move farm equipment and eventually the two rods the are "welded" through the plate both came loose. My local welding shop fixed it for $15.00 and made it much stronger than the original weld. I have continued to move equipment since with no issues.........

I pushed the bare plate against a tree and bent it enough to make it difficult to put on attachements. I had to straighten it out. I never push anything with just the plate now.

You are very correct, last winter with about 1500 hrs the rod went. First just a slight crack but by the end of the day continuing to do our snowplowing work the road needed to be replaced!

is the rod inside one piece or two?if it's two pieces that would be the reason for the failures.

If you are talking about the pivot pin., it is one piece. I had to replace the rod and toggle assembly on my PT-1445. The two parts froze together. I could not separate them with a 20 ton press.
