how tight to twist fencing brace wires?

We use them for everything. Braces, wire terminations, tensioners. Only ever had them come apart When cars go through the fence.

I used the crimp on connectors on one fence. It was a high tensile smooth wire. They did ok if you had 4-5 crimps on them. Almost solid crimp. Two just wouldn't hold. I always twist tie my brace wire. Wrap it atleast 8 times and try to get your wraps to touch and it'll hold what ever the wire will. If you don't get the wraps to touch then they'll slip till they pull in together.

You must have been been using the wrong size crimps or the wrong size crimp tool. Two will hold any thing the wire will.

Pretty sure the crimps were the right size but I wasn't happy with the tool. It didn't wrap around the crimp but instead looked like a bolt cutter but it would cam over.

The tool we used had a bolt cutter appearance but had 4 or 5 different sized slots. actually it looked like a really thick wire strippers. the jaw would completely cover the crimp. You could not crimp the little buggers shut with one hand even though it had 24 inch handles. The only way I was ever able to get the wire back apart was to take bolt cutters and mash and slice to get the crimps broke apart.

Yea I've seen those. They may work better than what I was using. Instead of the different size holes these had flat jaws. Where about the same length.
