How do I open the hood on my tc45a that I just purchased to add engine oil?
I don't have an owner's manual, so I don't know the secret to this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Rod

I posted this on your intro thread but thought you might see it first here.

This should be the same as my TC35D. Standing in front of the tractor the latch is just left of center under the bottom edge of the hood. It's easier if the loader is raised. Be sure to lock out the loader if you try this raised.

RD has told you where the latch is. I regularly open my hood with the loader down, so you can do it however you prefer. If you have a brush guard, you will need to unlatch it and rotate it forward because the hood won't clear it.

THIS IS IMPORTANT! On later model tractors, you want to carefully and slowly add engine oil at the filler pipe. If you fill with oil too fast, it can cause engine damage. Just don't dump the oil into the filler. Pour it slowly/normally and you'll be fine. If your tractor is not one of the newer models (later than 2005), this doesn't apply, but you didn't say what year your tractor is. It is also more common to happen when people are changing oil and pouring from a gallon oil container instead of quarts.

Thank you for the information. The latch is on the left but more to the outside on my 2005 TC45A 4 wheel drive. I found it and open the hood everything is fine. I don't have a brush guard, but the loader frame is close to the hood, but does not interfere with opening the hood.

Engine damage because I poor oil too fast? That's a new one! Care to explain?
