How to adjust rear pto clutch 4120

I tried searching... ""adjust pto clutch 4120" brought back 1700+ results in just the JD owning operating forum, went through 5 pages and couldn't find what I'm looking for.

My LX6 mower blades stop in high grass. My pto shaft cover is loose, so I can see it's the PTO shaft that stops turning. I'm packed up to move and can't find my manuals. Is there a way to adjust the clutches that turn the pto output shaft?

Machine is a ehydro if that matters, 2004 with 400 hours.

4120 pto clutch is hyd with no adjustment except changing hyp pressure. It sounds as if slip clutch if so equipped on LX6 is slipping. I Tighten each nut 1/2 turn until clutch stopped slipping.

Thanks! I originally thought it was the clutch in the mower, but since my PTO cover is broken, I can see that the PTO shaft stops at the tractor. Are you saying the clutch isn't really a clutch, but the PTO is turned directly with hydraulic pressure, or their is a clutch pressed together with hydraulic pressure?

The clutch is engaged hydraulically via a clutch valve and series of wet disc and plates. Pressure tests are probably needed to identify the problem if it the tractor that it slipping.

Do you happen to know if the gauge port locations, the required pressures and adjustments are shown in the manual that came with the tractor? If so, I'll start tearing into boxes to find the manual, lol.

The op's manual that came with the tractor will not have that information in it, you will need access to a tech manual.
