How to build a small minibike/bmx track?

here's some tips on the bmx/mini track build, as i have buildt 2 myself and am planning one now for my new place. if you dig up the soil you already have plan to add some type of drainage as it will get muddy, my suggestion and what i plan to do is just have some dirt brought in, as if needed the track can be taken down and just moved into a pile of spare dirt. for drainage, you can use a mattock and just cut a 2in deep trench at an angle across the track this will help in drainage and doesn't really affect the bikes much. or get some corugated pipe, and make a catch basin w/ a run out. also a fel and rear blade are probably the best tools for moving and grading the dirt. sculpting of the jumps is best done w/ shovels,preferrebly the flat type. one thing to remember if the jumps are for the kids and they're not too experienced w/ jumping yet, keep the lips(take offs) of the jumps tame. we like to mix in a bit of quikrete (cement mix in a bag) on the berms and takeoffs of the jumps, probably a 70/30 mix of dirt and quikrete. this helps in the dirt firming up and also helps to control the erosion of the jumps and berms.we also like to use old carpet on the takeoffs and landings for bmx use also helps in the erosion factor. hope that helps you out. jim
