I don't have access to my tractor now, but that u-shaped link stands straight up with the stop block at the bottom, which hits something, front and back to restrict movement to about 45 degrees front and back. I'm not much into brand names, but it's a "Razor" model if anyone has any input on that. Woops! There it is in my signature, if I can find that pic. and blow it up.

Bird,
Aren't there two little clamps on a bar under the seat that you can reposition in order to get the 3PH to stop where you want? I've never fooled with them before - just thought that was their intended use.

Paul, IF you're talking about what I think you're taking about (and now I've forgotten the correct terminology), then the answer is yes (sort of anyway). The lever has to be centered for the 3-point hitch to stop moving, and adjusting the length of that rod will cause it kick the lever back to the center when it reaches that point. I think the real reason for that adjustment is to prevent the tractor from continuing to try to raise the 3-point beyond it's limit and therefore holding the relief valve open. Of course, if you change that adjustment you'd have to get your wrenches (or at least a pair of pliers) every time you wanted to change it.

On a Yanmar there is a simple thumbscrew friction stop in the raceway for the 3ph op. lever that stops the downward movement wherever you set it. Works just like checkchains except that you are relying on your hydraulics, which must be working well for the stop to work.

I meant more to limit the how far the implement would go down - not up. I notice sometimes when I lower an implement all the way the lever will stay in the lowering position, while other times it will return to center. I'm thinking it does this because the implement hits the ground before the limit "switch" is hit.

That's right, and if you change it, will it go as low as you want when you change to another implement? If it does with all your implements, then I'd change it. Otherwise I wouldn't; but it's your choice. Whatever works best for you is the way to go.
