How to clean Massey Ferguson 230 air filter

Just bought a Massey Ferguson 230, doing some cleaning and maint, took the air filter apart and the bottom is full of milky oil and 2" of muck and grass and whatever,,got all this washed up and cleaned up,, do I need to take the rest of it apart,,or take the top hose off and run some cleaner and water down thru it,,any help appreciated,,I dont think its ever been cleaned

I found some info after I put in the right model number,,looks like i need to take the canister off and clean with diesel or some other slovent,,it is really dirty, i done think its ever been cleaned,,the tractor itself doesnt have but 775 hrs

This is typical for an oil bath air cleaner.
Make sure the water is dried out then rinse with diesel.
DON'T try to unpack the steel mesh as you won't get it back in the canister. It is packed in TIGHTLY.
Once you have dried the filter and rinsed with deisel(engine can runaway using petrol or spirit based cleaners) fill the base with oil to the oil line and refit( I just used engine oil in my MF135 air cleaner)

Replace the filter housing wil be the correct advice !
I normaly set it alight so that all that bad stuff can burn out ! VERY DANGEROUS ! Do that on a windfree day and in a open area !
