How to deal with a really stupid Credit Union?

I would still have my Sears... but, when I went to use my new card after calling in... I was denied!... they said I qualified for instant credit and could open a new one for me... why bother when they could close it again!

Never had a problem... I had other cards do the same around 2009 and my HELOC also... something about being in California I was told... each one that canceled said I was eligible to open a new one... yeah, right!

I think my wife has a few inactive CC's for department stores. Anyhow, she never carries a balance for more than a few days. Only uses them for sales and % off.

i think mine was a sears too, and then next was a discover due to the connection.

i believe it is. i have called in before and sometimes the automated system tel syou what city/states call center is servicing your call.

i HAVE 2 (DIFFERENT CASH BACK) versions that I use all time for 99.9% of the stuff I buy, this year so far I have over 175. and nearly 500 in cash back credits. Usually cash them in at x-mas time for gifts and or pay odd balance amount. I also have a cash back CC from MC as not every place takes Discover, my electric company for instance so it gets payed on-line with the MC.

I always pat balance at end of month & look at my credit score on Discover too, I have auto payments of most of my bills onto my Discover too (Phone, Dish, Cell, internet, car/house insurance etc.) That puts me some $ back from the monthly bills & 5% specials such as Gas or building supplies so bonus BUCKS

Yeah, I forgot we also get cash back on our MasterCard. We get double points if we use it through our credit union's travel agency.

My Costco American Express works well too and gives cash back... although soon American Express will be out... funny thing is I got the Discover through Costco... wonder what be next.

Have a ton of miles (for me) on an airline card I use for business... just have not been able to use them... with my luck the program will have changed when I'm ready...

No card through the credit union... I did belong to one credit union where you had to use the card 10x per cycle or your account balance would not earn interest for that cycle... found 10x was a bit much and often things wouldn't post for several days and that screwed things up... so then I started filling the tank in $30 intervals and that got the card flagged... in the end it was too much effort so I closed the account.

So closing my account was how I dealt with that really stupid Credit Union...
