New to tractor maintenance (maintain 4 other vehicles so not new to simple maintenance) and offered to change oil in a friend's 1920. The local tractor mart needs the model year to detemine the filter # but the owner has no idea. Is there a site that provides part numbers just based on the model without knowing the year? Thanks!

I'd be surprised if it doesn't cross to a napa 1515 ... seems that is what i rememebr the napa number being on my 1920.. though that's a car application filter.. a 1452 might be more 'in line'.

that said.. why not just hit a cnh dealer for the real deal?

not sure why the 'filter mart' needs the model year.. al the 1920 took the same oil filter IIRC. i think they were made from 87 - 2000

I had no trouble finding it on the New Holland website under parts for a 1920.

Yes, Wix has one of the best. Here is the link and your 1920 filter = 51521. Using this, you can go to the other filter manufacturer sites and cross it to a Purolator, Baldor, AC, etc.

I've however just been using a Ford FL-300, in both my older 1720 and newer (2001) TC40D for as long as I've owned each, now at 20+ years. Ever since NH started using the same miniature filter as my little Kohler lawn tractor engine, I opted to stick with something more substantial.

My 1920 uses same filter as 1710. As for the year: look at Unit number under SN plate. I,m at work and don't have the book. But I think first number is year, next letter is month: A= January, L= December, Next is 2 digit day of month, then A= Grave yard, B= day shift, C= swing shift. I'm sure to be corrected if wrong. :) BTW, my NH dealer has never asked the year when buying any 1920 parts or filters.

If your retailer would look a little deeper, they would quickly find that every 1920 ever built uses the same engine oil filter. Likely to be listed as New Holland part number 86546618 and currently sold as 87415600. If they can't cross reference either of these numbers, find another retailer.
