How to drill new holes for 3pt pins

I did just yesterday with a o/a cutting rig and then took a file and cleaned up the inside a bit and then ground all the splatter off with a angle grinder. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the advice. I plan to use a step drill bit, to enlarge the (inside) JD609 Rotary Cutter pin mounting holes. This will allow me to move the pins to the inside, which will then allow me move my rear tire/wheel's to inside position. If anyone has suggestion on best place to find bushings, I would appreciate it. (TSC, JD, online?)

UPDATE - I got a set of cheap (Harbor Freight need i say more) step drill bits that went to 7/8" and a 1/2" variable speed drill and got the pins installed this morning..

Both of my harbor freight purchases worked out great.. got both holes drilled in about 1/2 hr.. Having the side handle on the drill was a necessity..

Overall i got 1/2 hr of my time and $40 in tools that I can use again..

I use a plasma cutter to cut mine.....but otherwise, I'd go the holesaw route. I've used the 7/8 twist drill to do it, but it requires a high powered drill. I use a Milwaukee hammer drill with the hammer setting turned off.

im a hole saw fan. The plus side of it is you get a 1/4 inch washer for each hole you drill!

I picked up at yard sale or some where what is called a CAR REAMER 3/4" size. Used for aligning holes in structural steel, I had to do some bracketeering for my HF quick hitch. Love this tool, nice clean hole with a 1/2" milwaukee drill:thumbsup: I got lucky cause i probaly only paid $5.00 or less and they list for about $60.00 but would be worth it. If you have a tapered shank holder bridge reamer are cheaper but longer.
