Have you considered just changing pulley/belt sizes? Most of the elevators I've dealt with just have a couple of pulleys and a belt, if yours is the same you could probably get your speed down enough for about $30-40 instead of spending enough to buy a new elevator... Steve

That was my first thought and I do hydraulics for a living. And if it is direct drive, remount the motor to the side and belt drive it so you can use $60 worth of PT stuff to reduce speed. CJ

Yeah, another thing - it almost sounds like somebody put a 3450 rpm motor on the thing, unless it's an elevator for huge bales they usually only have a half or 3/4 horse motor on 'em. If the OP ever comes back, it might be worth seeing if he can trade that 1-1/2 horse for a slower 3/4 horse. Even cheaper... Steve

x2......also changing the motor to 1725 rpm is good advice too
