Well the first go around also included mini excavator work. I charged them $2500. But as far a bush hogging I charged them for 12 hours cause it was a growed up mess. There was also some manaul labor involved in the $2500 price. So for bush hogging it now since it's nice and smooth and spraying it what about $700 per cut and spray includes travel time.

How far is the travel time? And how frequent are the cuttings? if once per year, it is going to be thicker and slower going. IF 3 or 4 per year, you can go faster.

And how smooth was it?

Basically, you can see what I am getting at. How long do you think it will take from your drive, BACK to your drive? Take that number x $60 and thats the ballpark I would be in.

If that number is 9-10 hours, and you want to charge $1500, you are charging $150+ per hour. Which WAY too high for the equipment you have.

The $700 is probably reasonable considering the cost of spray and time involved with that.

My thoughts too, I knew I was way to high on it, just had a gut felling that I was fixing to bid my self right out of a gravy job. The field is relatively smooth and not a lot to go around. They are wanting it cut three times a year and sprayed each time also. So I'll say $60 hour @ 8 hours plus $70 to cover spray plus an hour to spray cause there's not a lot, and then $40 for drive time. 60*8+70cover spray+50 for hour of spraying+40 travel=$640 per cut. If say that's pretty reasonable.

Sounds good to me. Certainly alot better than $1500

Last question, say I was to get a 12ft cutter and different tractor and could mow that 20acres a little faster, would I need to adjust my price up or down because of the cost of equipment, I know dumb question but to me there is never a dumb question just a dumb *** for not asking someone a question. Thanks

No way they are paying you for the job you do not for how quickly you do it. I wouldn't bid any lower than 1 grand on this. You are doing this as a business not just for wages

I just bid it at $750 per cut, and they accepted. Do you think I'll lose my .... on this job.
