How to follow water pipe?

Ditto. I tried everything and had nothing to lose when I tried it. I was amazed at how well it worked and could not care less if anyone else believes it or not.

I'm "Way. way, way,-late" to this 'dance', and fully admit that I've only read about 50 of the first post replys, but I wanted to throw this out there........I've been in the Natural Gas business for some 45+ years. We've had times where we've had to locate plastic gas lines that had no tracer wire. A couple of my employees, and myself included had awesome success with two copper coated 1/8" gas welding rods bent "L" shaped. Typically 6"x18". I hold the rods loosely in my hands. No sleeves, just a loose grip, hands together, pointed straight ahead. It's always been my experience, that as I crossed the 'line' the rods would separate as I crossed the pipe, one right, one left. Now, that said I have no evidence that that action was tracing the pipe, or the 'Cut' of the trench that the pipe was placed in! I also know that I and some of my employees, can do this, while others cannot. Body 'Chemistry'(?) I don't know.......... I have no 'scientific' explaination, but it's worked repeatedly for us! ~Scotty

PSS I have absolutely no knowledge of "Water-Dowseing" however I had a (Now deceased) employee tell me that his Dad could take a 'forked' fruit branch, (Apple, Pear) and when he crossed a vein, it would "roll the bark off in his hands"! Never have seen it, No further comment! ~S

Hello Scotty 370,good to hear of your experiances using the same method with success that I use. Go back to my earlier posts agreeing with RippySkippy,numbers 22 and 30. You will find some want to sway our method of finding underground pipes somehow into witching for water with a forked stick.I have said they are two different discussions .

I would surely love to watch you work the system with known pipe or water locations, but it might not work if I am close by.

I am impressed with people that can do what they say they can do, and if I saw you find the items discussed, I would be a witness and tell everyone about your abilities forever.

I use bent metal rods (any kind, spring steel, coat hangers welding rods) Over the decades I have used them to find buried pipes full or empty, electric and phone lines, gas lines. I do not know why it works but it does and it is a bit scary and humbling. I would never take money for this it just seems unwise. All three of my kids can do this. Some people get no response. The rods cross parallel to a pipe or wire for instance. With most people the rods cross each other inward a few people have the rods go the opposite way (out)

What do they call people that talk to sticks, bent wire, and pendulums? If those sticks, wire , ever answer back, you be in big trouble.

Trees sway in the wind, but there is a reason, and you don't even have to ask which way is the wind coming from.

Short answer: No !! I don't use a pendulm, use my arm as a pointer, or any other appendages..............(Which woulds always have the 'driller' trying to drill through my insoles!):laughing:........~Scotty
