Another thought might be to visit a big box store, i.e. Walmart, Lowes, etc. Ask to speak to the GM and inquire as to who locally removes their snow. Follow that up to see if they need people. Also, if your local grocery store has a bulletin board, post your name and number on a 3x5 card expressing your interest. Just a thought.

If you are willing to do it, indicate to plow companies that you are OK with short-notice fill-in work.

I have 20 years of snow plowing experience with a major city, a county and the highways department and I can tell you from experience that you are dammed if you do and you are dammed if you don't. Plowing snow for the general public, you cannot win. I have been flipped off more times than I can count. Big trucks have tried to run me off the highway. I've had shovels thrown at me. So there you have it for what it is worth.

Now, I sit at home in winter and blow snow for a few disabled neighbours.

Have you thought about purchasing a newer, larger tractor, and investing into a snowblower and working for yourself? Getting your own clients? It's not something that works short term, as in, it's already too late this year, but possibly get setup for next year. Then you could also use the tractor in the off season for other jobs as well.

Guys at all ages that like to tinker with walk behind snow blowers, often end up doing some neighbours driveways.

Since you are mechnically inclined dl, find a reasonable used walk behind blower, give it some TLC, and throw it (make that lock it up) in the back of your F150.

Since gas is cheaper now, try driving around with a Snowblower for Hire sign on your truck Sat. or Sun. morning after a big storm. You might scare up some business that day, and if your rates are reasonable, maybe some repeat customers. I think you are working FT allready, so in terms of repeat business, being realistic and up-front with customers about when you are available is prudent.

If you fix up something like a Gravely walk behind blower, or some other well regarded make, worst comes to worse, just sell it to make a little profit.

Also another vote to keep a shovel handy. Some people will pay to get areas that a blower won't go shovelled out. Roofs for one, if snow is bad enough in your area and you can manage that type of risk.
