we just pour a small amount of gasoline down the hole and leave, do this after dusk, we dont light it the gas vapors suffocate the hornets.

Just recently there was a discussion about dirt dobbers, and someone recommended www.bugspray.com

Great site!

My 3 year old grandson found a ground nest of them early this spring about 20 ft from the house. He was stung three times before he was able to get away. I found the nest and soaked it with an entire can of wasp spray. Haven't seen any wasps since.

u can pour the gas in the whole and not light it and the fumes will kill the bees.

I've always heard that, but lighting the gas gives me more satisfaction. Those little suckers need revenge!

Absolutely...I like to do that as well....but I was thinking if someone was afraid of starting a fire..and it getting out of hand, just pouring the gas in the whole would be safer. But I am with you...I love to strike that match....snap crackle, pop.

I've done the same thing. I had a nest in an outside wall of my house. I tried bug spray several times and they never seemed bothered. Finally, I rigged up the shop vac, flipped in on for 10 minutes, and they were gone.

The other strategy that seems to work well is using a squirt gun loaded with a dish soap and water solution. The soap sufficates them and isn't too bad for the environment. I have a big old super soaker that I use /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

I've been known to do the gas and match thing too /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.
