Several years ago I had a serious mole problem that I could not solve. They were everywhere. Front and back yard full of mole runs. I also had a problem with dandelions and lespedeza (farmers call it Jap) covering the front for nearly the entire spring and summer. I called a local lawn treatment place and asked for prices and if they could get rid of the stuff for me. They said it would take several treatments to completely eradicate the weeds. They came out and sprayed and I jokingly asked the guy in charge if he could spray for the moles. Said he would handle it. Since that time they spray my yard two or three times a year and I have no moles. I also have no lespedeza or dandelions either.
Apparently they spray the yard with an insecticide called Talastar. This kills the grubs that moles feed on. There are still plenty of earthworms and ants and other bugs but no grubs. We've not had a single mole run in our yard in years. The spray is mixed at a rate of 0.25 oz per 1000 sq.ft. or 6 oz. per 100 gallons.
Moles gone and I don't do anything but pay the bill two or three times a year. I also have the best looking yard, if I do say so myself, in the entire neighborhood.
