I have a draw bar on the lower portion of my 3 point but nothing is attached the top 3pt. Long story short... When I towing a trailer around and it doesn't have enough weight on the tongue the trailer will pop up. this makes backing up almost impossible. Is there way to tow something around with the 3 point and not have this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Use the draw bar instead of the three point or chain the three point down
to the draw bar in the center(rear) of the tractor;just don't forget it's chained
down.

So basically the only option is to have a fixed stabilizer that will not allow me to move it up and down?

Us a Clevis or such on the drawbar to make it say to attach chain to it if needed. Works great and is fast and easy.

Yes since most 3 PH do not have down pressure capability the arms will float up if a load it trying to lift the arms.

Willy Wonka - basically what you are saying in post #4 is correct. The lower arms on your three point hitch system, with the drawbar attached to the lower arms, can not be forced down hydraulically - they are designed to lift hydraulically. If your trailer is loaded to the rear of the trailer - tongue light - then the tongue will lift the drawbar.

The solution - as per nybirdman - use your standard drawbar or chain your crossarm drawbar down OR load your trailer towards the front so it will be "tongue heavy" and hold your cross arm drawbar down.

Personally I do not like the idea of chaining your cross arm drawbar down - - too easy to forget and cause damage by lifting with your 3-point lower arms before you un-chain.

I just use the tractor draw bar with trailer ball 1221171506-00.jpg1221171507-00.jpg

Before backing up if you lower the 3ph it reduces the chance of it raising I bring loads of logs down the mt. on my trailer and that's what I do so it won't raise.
