Second lousy fur trapping season in a row, so I worked my way into Spring getting rid of red squirrels in the nabe.

Starlings are next(!)
and I'm working on sets for 'em. All those posts here about pests come to mind and one thing is for sure. You won't get 'em all ... That said, I'm thinking of dangling conibear 110s in front of some key entry points. Maybe they'll shy away after a few have fallen. Pellet gun when I get time to set up & sit in a pop-up blind near roosting trees during my uh .. work breaks.
Since my barn doors are so tall (13' 6"+), and since birds only fly thru' 'em when they're open I'm thinking of stringing nets (badminton, etc) just inside the doors for when starlings see the shortcut. I know soon enough if that's working to reduce the number of 'fly-ins'.
btw, Spring 'coons will be looking anon for nesting places on shelves they clear, and the cage traps will continue to be baited while shoveling-up scat from Winter's various visitors. You don't win all your battles but you have to be prepared for
war.
