How to keep tractors battery from being stolen?

Reminds me of a fellow I knew that moved into a trailer park. He told me he had to chain his porch to his trailer after it was stolen the 2nd time…

What kind of damage do you suppose they will cause to your equipment if you don’t leave them an easy to steal battery or attempt to make it more difficult?

As you have now learned, thieves often return to places where they have committed crimes. A few years ago, I had a game camera stolen from one of our properties. Took a tractor over there and went up in the bucket to mount another beyond reach or even a location where it’s easy to see and captured the thief(s) and an older fellow that probably had instructed them to return it (note the kid wiping his finger prints off the camera he just put back).

Took the photos to a local highschool teacher and haven’t had so much as a photo of them since. Had it not been returned the photo would have been delivered to law enforcement instead.

Cell cams and signs saying property is on video surveillance works well now , Even using old non working cameras placed high up is a good deter-ant

If you have a front loader, can you run a cable/chain/rod across the arms that will keep them from opening the hood when the loader is in the bottom position.

35 years of farming and leaving equipment in the field, never gave a second thought to that. You must live in as high crime area. I live in flyover country where God is king.

Gone in less than 30 seconds...

I locked my house and truck key in my house last Wednesday morning. My wife had already left for the rare in-office work day.

Without going into great detail, I was in the house through a locked window and storm window 6' off the ground, relocked it, grabbed my keys and out the back door in about 45 seconds with no visible damage to the window. My cat just sat there and watched me.

Really, nothing is safe from a determined/experienced person.

Interesting video that should put to rest any thoughts of security. Locks are just a deterrent at best.

My old boss used to say "locks are there to keep honest people honest"

;)

Pretty sure that that meant regular type house locks etc.

As far as the OP problem of some one stealing his battery.
Hard to say what the best way would be other then a 3S solution.
I'm a long way from the "so called fly over country" but untill the last couple of years I never bothered getting the keys out of my trucks, the tractors still have them in them, I don't even know what key fits the house doors. I do try to remember to close the garage door when I'm not home.
