...which would make me think 1bush2hog's estimate of 5000-6500 pounds for your 20-footer was too high.

It probably is on the high side, however, lots of times older containers have to have new floors, walls, roofs, etc. when being repaired. If this is a salvaged container it could very will have had repairs made that will add to the weight.

Cool, you did it. Now how are you going to get it off?

The stickered tare weight on my container, 20' 8' tall, is right about 5000. I would very much expect a 9.5' tall model to be well over 5000#.

Lets see, 3 feet to top of deck over trailer deck, 9.5 feet more makes 12.5 feet which is too high for many bridges in my area. How about those powerlines? I bet that was quite a sight to see the container up on that GN.

Congratulations and thanks for showing us how.

It wouldn't have been as high as what it would've been sitting on one of the semi trailers.

On the westcoast trucks can legally be up to 14' high without a permit, west of CO, the height changes to 13'6". Most public road bridges (highways should work out then).

It just looked really tall there. Quite a nice truck and trailer too.

I finally made the 300 miles trip and unloaded the container exactly where I wanted it (really close to the contrustion site and out of the way). It really worth the effort. I was able to bring a lot of stuff inside the consider. That save me a lot of trips.
It was a lot easier than loading it. I jack it up and place pipes under then pulling it with a com-a-long. Here a few pics.

Very cool Tom.
Did the new Ford have any trouble with that load? That thing is huge. How about going up the Grapevine?
What all are you going to store in it? Looks like you did a lot of grading work with that bulldozer of yours too.
