We are putting up hay on our small field for our goats. I need to make smaller bales that my wife can handle. Any tips on making the bales shorter? I am pulling a MF 224 with our 1969 Ford 4000 SU

I'm not familiar with a MF baler but I'm guessing it will be similar to a JD or NH balers and have a bale measuring wheel with a curved arm. The curved arm will have an adjustable stop. Just loosen this stop and lower it a very small amount on the curved arm and re-tighten the set screw. This will shorten the bales.

Just shorten the time it takes on the measuring wheel, this will make the bales smaller.

Don't know that baler but if you run out of adjustment shorten the prongs and lower the wheel on the trip.
