One day I was at the sand and gravel yard, getting a load of garden mulch (wet, at that). There was a 1/2 yard loader sitting there, and the guy asked how much I wanted. I said "3 buckets".
So, he went and got the 1 yard bucket. Axle bent so bad the tire was rubbing on the trailer.
After removing half the material, we used the combination of a forklift to pick up the trailer, a big rock under the bent axle, and then the loader to press back down. Got the trailer back in usable shape.
Loader operator got chewed out, and no charge for the mulch that day.
I did, however, sell that trailer shortly afterwards. (And yes, I did tell the buyer that the axle was slightly bent).
If I was going to overload I would have used the truck NOT the trailer.
Really!!???. 2011 crew cab w/6 ft bed diesel cummins ram fully loaded cost 55 thousand bucks. And risk having dirt spill over and ruin the new paint or bust a leaf spring. Landscape trailer 10 ft bed x 5 foot cost 1000 bucks and you dont worry what happens to its axle cause it can be replaced easily and no paint to ruin. Your no playin with a full deck are you?
What!? In all those truck commercials I've seen, they usually drop a pallet of bricks in the back from a crane! Are you telling me the leafs on that work truck can't handle a little dirt?
I know what you're talking about- hate to dirty up a perfectly good work truck when you have a utility trailer to abuse. Been there, done that- I just try to not endanger anyone other than myself if I can help it.
haha yeah i remeber those commercials. i was just being over dramatic. Its not a job truck though. its more of a just pull stuff around and look pretty truck. No way in **** am i gonna overload it with dirt and have it spill over the sides and scratch the paint:thumbsup:
