I have used tire plugs many times without them leaking. With that said, I would like to inform viewers the Rubber Manufacturers Association recommends using a plug with a patch on the inside over it. Off the highway I do not see a problem with using a plug but what happens when an accident occurs on the highway when a plug does leak and a wreck results causing a fatality? Hmm, the industry recognized experts (RMA) says to use a plug with a path over it as the suing attorney will prove. When you are in front of a jury, I do not believe you would have a chance in a lawsuit.
If you take your tire to a garage or tire store for a leak repair, do not think they are ripping you off when they say they have to take the tire off the rim to repair. They are just covering their arse. Do you really think the vehicle owner is going to say to the jury "The tire shop wanted to plug and patch it but I told the tire shop just plug it".
