How to pull bearing from Flail Mower shaft?

Yes, I've also had good luck using the cutting torch on bearing races. The next best thing is to heat the race up red hot and then throw water on it. It usually cracks and then you can get it off. If it does not crack from the thermal shock, a few whacks from a chisel will finish the job.
And like others have mentioned - the angle grinder will also work. In your case it may depend on how much room you have to get tools into the area.

Torch Baby!!!

The repair is complete. I had to use a torch. I ended up cutting through the race on one side. This race ended up not having a lock ring. It did have two set screw holes. Both were empty after removal. I had already purchased a replacement bearing from my local bearing shop. The bearing set was $76. At least the flail is free rolling now. The attachment is ready for some serious work.....

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Way to go Tom, it always amazes me at how easy it is to cut off a race and not screw up the shaft. I bet that mower is gonna run smoother than it has in years, good job. Ron
