I dig old stumps around the perimeter with FEL the cut taproot w/chainsaw if needed.I have done well over 30 stumps this way here, all pine & fir, these are the large stumps, small hemlock, alder, pine,I easily just flip & push, but these are small less then 20' baby stuff. I do not attempt to take oaks out,no matter how small, they are evil when it comes time for a removal, I leave them alone. Maybe track hoe next year for those or cut & treat stumps to kill it, & or grind them, oaks just don't die after falling them. Be carefull if you take on stumps, lots can go wrong. Playing with large dead standing tree's is dangerouse, take it from a nut that chinks down fairly large pines & fir trees that are wind blown stuck in other trees with chainsaw in 3'chunks starting at supposed fall cut & working up as tree slams down 3'each cut, the 1st cut is very hairy.....,tree can get you fast at that point, doing it not so much anymore, but have done way to many times to be doing it much more. death is highly likely if I were to continue this practice. You can flip your tractor sideways taking stumps, & it happens fast. Be carefull & have fun.
Also if you have vinemaple or similar, respect the 4" diameter young stuff, they also can kill under pressure slapback with ease.
