Mid-Mount Mower How to remove middle blade on MF 2325

I can't figure how to remove the middle blade on my MMM (MF 2325). I don't have the manual and it costs $30 with shipping. Seems like it should be straightforward. I got the side blades off: two wrenches - one holding the bolt from the top and the other loosening the nut underneath. But the middle blade is connected to the gear housing. I can't remove the gear box from the spindle even after removing the bolts that secure the gear box to the mower.

So somehow I need to freeze the spindle/bolt to loosen the nut holding the blade. I've jammed a crowbar into the top, but even with a lot of torque the nut still won't budge and I'm worried I'm going to break something. Ugh. Any thoughts? Am I missing something obvious?

Use an impact wrench!! If no air find or borrow an electric.

I've always liked "liquid wrench". Spray it on the bolt and let it sit overnight. The next day rather then put a lot of torque on it, give the wrench a tap with a hammer.
