sixdogs, It is easy to spend somebody else's money, but would you not be better off to change the seats now. You say the covering is plastic, and despite the low mileage that plastic is old. How long will it last?

Thank you O-McD--You never know long things last The truck was never in the hot summer sun and I think hot sun and abuse are what kills plastic interiors like dashes and seats. The dash looks perfect.

The seat is taught as can be and looks not far from factory showroom condition. It's something I sure would like to save but I'm beginning to think that's not possible. An old truck like that would look the best with original fabric so I'm looking to see what's out there in replacement fabric. If so, it should be a snap for an upholstery guy to put on.

Nothing kills an auto adventure faster than a musty --or mousey--or even vinegar smelling interior. Right now I can take my pick.

I have had luck using baby powder on urine smells, supposed to be some sort of enzyme that helps with that. Also apple cider vinegar smells a little better.

Thanks. I'm going to talk with a guy about doing the frame split for me. It's complex because a section of the frame has to come out and the wheels need to come forward to take the wheelbase from 181" to around 121". Then, a section of the removed frame has to be welded on the end to make the frame the approximate length for the bumpers to fit for the pickup bed.

I could do the split but am not sure I am able to roll that super heavy 15,000 LB Rockwell axle forward. It really is a beast and is not "weight neutral" and will want to pitch/roll forward on me. I've got big jacks but it's a lot for one guy.

Located a donor pick up bed nearby. It's a 2005 Dodge dually 8 ft bed that really is perfect. The so-called fenders are coming off and I'll find some Ford fenders to fit the duals I'm planning on running. Found a gooseneck plate so that will probably go in as well.

Another idea for getting that dank musty smell out, cut an apple in half & leave it overnight (not til it rots lol). Idk how it works on mildewy odor but it takes out cigarette/cigar stank.... if you live somewhere where it's hotter than blazes you may want to sit it in a cheap bowl just incase it decides to get runny.

I certainly hope so and I'll do my best. Things will drag at times because I have other things to do as well but I figure the frame and brakes done in a month to five weeks. Then if I can figure out a fuel tank I can take my first very short trip. Dog is anxious already.
