This was way more elegant and easy. Remove the (4) T27 torx screws on the inside of the left wheel well that holds the plastic vent cover between the driver's door and the left rear wheel. Remove the fuel cap and the 3 screws under it that hold the plastic vent cover to the fuel neck. Pull on the right side of the plastic vent and it pivots out. Then you have full access to the battery without needing to lift the battery. There's enough clearance to jump the battery and even remove it. I was successful in jumping with a charger but my battery was only down about 50%.
