How to safely bend a hydraulic line?

I recently replaced the top hydraulic line on the FEL. It is rubbing against the side frame. How can I bend it without crimping it? (or should I not worry about it).

Support the inside of the curve with something solid and close to the same radius (slightly less). Something like a v-pulley, or pipe, or bottle. Distribute the load when bending evenly around the curve, and it should not kink.

You could use a tubing bender.

If all you want to do is get it off the loader frame so it doesn't rub, just grab a hold of it and pull it out a little. You don't have to move it anywhere near far enough to kink it. Just don't over do it. I would find a spacer that clamps around both hard lines. That would keep them from rubbing on each other and the frame.

Hi,

I would put something between the loader frame and the line ( towards the back of the tractor by the rubber part of the hose ) abd then gently bend the line out standing in front of the tracotr ( at that end of the line ) this should do the trick for you!! Only bend it enought to pull it away from the frame of the loader.

Are you talking about metallized lines or rubber lines? This will make a difference in what you'll need to do. John

As a work around, rather than bending that tubing too much, you might take a piece of rubber hose, a few inches long, slit it length wise, slip it over the hydraulic line, and position it between the loader arm and the line, to act as a cushion.

If you use something with an ID similar to the OD of the tubing, it will stay on well by itself, but you could also use a small hose clamp to hold it in place if needed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sometimes you can loosen the clamp and the fitting on the other end and just reposition it.

I would place 1/2 "--3/4" thick block of wood between pipe and frame at (A) and push with the heel of your palm at (B)

Perhaps advice would be easier to give if we could see how the rest of the line is bent and layed out. It may be a bend farther down may not be quite the proper angle and makes the tubing rub where shown.
