How to stop cars from turning around in my driveway

If they did all they're allowed to do, they didn't shirk any responsibility. I'm sensing some law enforcement hostility.

The sheriff here would tell you they have more important things to do than look at some car in my yard.. I have no hostility towards them at all, I just think they are lazy as is gets.. Why is it that every time someone has something negative to say about LEO's it's law enforcement hostility?

No one gets a free pass from me because of their job, LEO's, Military, anybody, there are lazy people that do a bad job regardless of their profession..

Family and friends don't get a free pass either. Things are what they are and I call them that..

I guess i'm just lucky. The police in both the county where I live and in South Bend are very responsive to any call. I've had them out here for simple trailer and boat registration, suspicious persons, neighbor troubles, health emergencies, you name it. I've never found them to be lazy.

A long time ago, a couple hunters came and parked on some private property and went traipsing around several of our neighbors' lots.
They had left their doors unlocked, and I had just killed a mole. I put it under a seat and went on my merry way.
I don't know that it cured anything, but it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.
That's no big deal or harmful. I know a hunter who wants to hunt alone. He parks his truck and sets an empty whiskey bottle on the hood. That does the trick except once the game warden waiting for him, thought he was hunting intoxicated. The hunter told him he doesn't drink, he'd be glad to be tested, he wasn't littering since it was on his truck.
A farmer hunters trespassed cut through his fence. He waited with a shotgun, had them empty their wallets for fence damage.

Management is key in any department, like anything else, there is good and bad management.. I'm pretty rural here in Maine, a sheriff is at least a half hour out so the people around here don't call them unless it's a medical emergency, and most times they don't even come to those unless there is a fatality.. The towns fire dept takes care of any of that..

They have a pretty bad attitude around here..

The people next door were out in the yard with their pug puppy, a state trooper came up the road at about 75mph and the pup ran out and he hit it, I was outside, the trooper got out of the car and said to me, "now don't go speeding to the vet" that's the only thing that came out of his mouth.. No sorry, no nothing, the dog was loose so it wasn't his fault but it doesn't give them a good reputation to common everyday people.. He left and went the other way which tells me he was going 75mph for no reason..

If I was him I would have taken the dog to the vet with lights on and siren blasting..

We don't call the police for medical emergencies. We call 911. Many times the cops show up before the fire department. The fire department always shows up before the ambulance.

Here's what I would do if I lived near a park where concerts go on and/or people parking in my yard or property was problematic.
I'd made a few signs...nothing fancy...tin, wood, plastic about 2ft x 3ft. Nailed to a 2x4, sharp point. Write "NO PARKING TOWING ENFORCED".
Put them out when start seeing park lot filling up.
I guarantee if you call most towing companies "there is an abandoned vehicle on my property needs towed off" they would do it, charge owner, you don't pay anything.
Other thing is who owns the park? The city? I would contact top most person (mayor) explain what's going on...they can post signs on your behalf like "NO parking across street, etc." The city could also install permanent no parking signs along your side along road.
You got very lucky. No way would I mess with someone's car as you could be sued/fined, etc. If someone got injured, owner claim you damaged it, etc.
You could put a 2" pipe every 30ft, 3ft high with a chain or cable through it just over onto your property. Some people plant cypress trees every 10 ft.
Most places, for them to be charged with trespassing and get towed from private property, you need specific signage saying:
1. No Trespassing
2. Unauthorized cars will be towed
3. The name of the tow company
Then you can have their car towed and have them charged with trespassing because the sign was their warning, otherwise, you have to document that they were warned/instructed not to enter the property before they can be charged with trespassing.

Nope. Why should I spend a bunch of money keeping criminals off my property? Your attitude is part of the problem. I asked the wife about how long ago this was and she guessed 15 or 20 years ago and since then, we have never had anyone act this stupid. Let me come pull up in your front yard and see what you think about it. I shouldn't have to turn my yard into Fort Knox to prove that you can't park there. A little common sense and respect for an individuals property is all that should be needed, but this individual had neither (parked in my yard and had a warrant out for him). Sadly, society is adopting the Fuddy attitude that it isn't their responsibility to behave unless you give me all types of warning and do it in triplicate otherwise it is your fault for not making me behave and act like a respectful human being.

I guess, based on Fuddy's attitude, if the guy didn't want his vehicle moved, he should of put signs all around stating don't move this vehicle, no signs, so I'm legal to move it.

Most jurisdictions alow having cars towed at owner's expense if illegally parked on private property. Tow companies know the rules so just ask them. As for calling police about parking violations, not good use of their time.

I did call the tow company, that is how I knew the cost and that I had to pay up front. I disagree about not a good use of the officers time. Living in this community for 48 years, I have called the police three times for my own personal needs, twice when my vehicle was hit (on two separate occasions) and once because I had a vehicle in my front yard. I don't feel that I'm over burdening the police department. That is not to say that I haven't called the police for others, but to need their assistance 3 times in 48 years, I don't believe that I have abused the use of their time. Understand, I'm not bashing the police at all. We have a good police department, I can tell you the officer that was involved in this incident was let go a year and half later for the way he handled some other situations. Yes, this officer dropped the ball, but please don't think all police officers are worthless. Like any career, you have good employees and less than desirable employees.

We don't call the police for medical emergencies. We call 911. Many times the cops show up before the fire department. The fire department always shows up before the ambulance.

When we call 911, we get usually EMS, then FD, eventually SO or State. Often, EMS has already loaded the patient and left for the hospital before the blue lights show up. FD usually has to wait keeping traffic blocked long after EMS has left.

I can tell you the officer that was involved in this incident was let go a year and half later for the way he handled some other situations.

We had a deputy that had been fired from two other agencies before being hired here. He had at least three violent incidents here before he was fired. At the next department he was hired, he ended up killing a guy after chasing him into another state. He was fired from there. Last I knew he had been hired yet again by another SO.

If it had been up to me, he would have lost his certification long ago so he could never wear a badge again.
