OK, here is the poorboy solution that I use that will work fine for most applications. While the 3-pt connection is the best, most that are available are fairly expensive for something that is so simple so here's what I do. I use the drawbar. To keep the drawbar from twisting under a heavy load I simply took a piece of 2" aluminum angle iron about 12-14 inches long I had laying around and drilled a hole in one end the same size as the holes in the drawbar. Then I took a 3/4" bolt and attached the angle iron one to one of the outside holes on the bottom side of the drawbar. I then position the other end of the angle iron under the lift arm forward of the lifting point and secure it there with a piece of wire. This keeps the draw bar level and it cannot rotate when a load is applied to the ball. The only drawback to this set up is you will not be able to raise your lift very high and have it remain level. But it is much cheaper than a $200 3-pt. hitch and you still have about a 1/3 of your usable lift range for hook ups. I have used this method on many tractors with many different size and weight trailers and never had any problems.
