Oil & Fuel How to unscrew that fuel filter ring.

I was looking at the fuel filter on my 4010 and read the manual. It says to unscrew that ring at the top of the fuel bowl. Mine's tucked in there behind the FEL connections. Can't get one of those oil filter wrenches on it.

How do you guys unscrew the thing? Looks like one might have to give it a tap with a punch or a chisel and not slip and hit the glass.

I used big channel locks pliers.

Can't get on it with channel locks on the 4010.

Hammer and a screwdriver. You shouldn't have to hit it too hard, just tap, it will loosen.

Can you get a rubber strap wrench in there?

Don't think I can get in there with one of those strap wrenches. I have a chain wrench. Would never be able to get it on there.

Think I'll try a hammer and a punch or screwdriver to loosen it first. If that doesn't work, think I can get channel locks on it if I remove the plastic floorboard. Looks as though it's only held in there by 6 bolts.

Bet it's the same on 2210s.

The 2210 fuel filter is mounted outboard of the right hand engine side panel. It is very easy to get at, too easy in my opinion as I worry that someday I will bump something with it.

Do you have an FEL on your 2210? That's the problem on my 4010. The hydraulic connections for the FEL are right in front (further out to the right) of the fuel filter. Otherwise, it would be out to the right like on the 2210. The 4010 and 2210 seemed almost identical to me when checking them out. The 2210 has some different gearing around the rear wheels that probably set them at a higher height (lower ground clearance) than the straight-out axles of the 4010. Otherwise, the engine areas and even most of the controls were identical. The 2210 is missing the cruise control, and the 4010 is missing the drink holder.

Yes my 2210 has an FEL, but the hydraulic connections come from under the tractor near the floorboard, they are behind the filter and are not in the way.
