How to use differential lock?

I saw another thread similar thread on this subject and thought I would ask on this one as well.

With the locking differential on the same side (right hand side) as the throttle, how do you keep the tractor in the locked position? I am familiar with differential locks being on the left side using your left foot to hold the lock in. Will the Massey keep it in a locked position without your foot holding the differential lock down? How do you take it out of a locked position?

Yes it will stay locked "if" you keep the tractor moving. Once you stop, it will/should pop out of lock.

Just about everything else I have seen has it on the left side, Kubota, John Deere's, New Hollands. Just step on the pedal with your left foot while still contolling the tractor with your right.

I would imagine having it on the right hand side is better for the tractor. You have to think about using it a little more rather than just stomping on the differential when going 10mph up hill.

I have worked on and drove a lot of tractors, but they have always had them on the right.
