So, here we go. :)

The Chipper will be delivered on Friday to bottom of my driveway, all 500lbs. So, I got hooks on my FEL and thinking I should be able to pick it up with some tie downs. But, taking it up the driveway with a steep incline is making me question the best way to do this.

BX1860 FEL, RB 60, 54" mower.

Thoughts or experience will be greatly appreciated?

Soooo... What kinda tractor do you have?

Without knowing the tractor/FEL model it is hard to judge. Any loader with numbers higher than LA228 should lift 500 pounds.

The physics of it is to go up the steep driveway in the forward (usual) direction. The weight will be more over the front tires. Be sure to pump up the fronts to max.

Secure the load as far back as possible on the bucket. The best way would be to suspend it under the bucket since as the bucket raises it gets closer still to the front tires.

Lift off of the ground the minimum amount.

A counterweight is essential. You'll also probably need 4WD if the rears slip in the slightest.

I guess the real question is why don't you just hook it up to the 3 point hitch? That is, unless it comes disassembled to the extent that slapping on the 3 pt mount is not practical.

Sorry about that, I did update my signature but for some reason it is not showing.

I have a BX1860 with FEL, 54" Deck, and 60" RB all on the tractor now.

Yeah, I guess the easiest way is to hook it up to the 3pt and pull, in this case to the RB.

I'd put the blade on the back, secure the load in the bucket with straps, carry it low in 4wd and drive forward. You shouldn't have any trouble. Your load capacity at max height is 408 lbs. Your breakout force is 882 lbs. You should be able to lift it but probably not very high. Slow movements and keep the load low. The back blade will be your ballast.

If your lucky, 500 lbs is the "shipping weight". This is often well over the actual weight.

If it does indeed weigh 500lbs., I do not think you will be picking it up with your tractor.
