How well does a L3400 Hydro/FEL brushhog?

I have a 5 foot Continental Bronco cutter and have no problems what so ever with my L3400

You can always slow down or take a smaller cut. Get a big mower. It can handle it.

I have run my 60" Ford brush cutter behind the L3400HST and went through 5 foot high weeds and some maples up to about 1.5 inches. It makes a racket but takes them down. No trouble with power at all.
