How wide should a box blade be?

/ How wide should a box blade be? #11
I'd been thinking of going 6' on my (to be) 55" wide CT235, but one use of this will be ballast while I'm working in the woods, so I'm thinking 5' now. I don't really need the 6' and it would get hung up a lot more.

Quandry.

That surely is a consideration, if I was going to be in the woods much, I would have gone with a smaller one too.

Welcome PastureKing. Assuming that you will also have adjustable ripper teeth on your BB, before you buy, flip it over upside down and look at the welds (or lack thereof) on the ripper teeth pockets. I bought a well known name brand BB and had a ripper tooth pocket bend backwards due to NO bottom pocket welding! The company made good and repaired in pronto time. Not sure if all BB manufactures engineer in pockets-can't speak for them. Flip it over anyway and inspect all of the bottom welds.

Thanks to all. I've located a Vassar 6' BB from a private dealer on craiglist and have looked at a 6' BB from Tractor Supply. I am now confident that I want to get the 6'.

Stay cool...
