Last night I was reading the threads and I saw that they are talking about the new BX26, the replacement for the BX24. What I would like to know is what are your opinions, ups and downs, what would you keep and what would you change? On the thread they mentioned,

1-metal hood and fenders.
2-26hp engine.

I would trade my plastic for metal any time. What I would like to add on the list is split brakes on the right side. Front head lights that can be used with the loader. A flip cooling fan for the winter (would heat cab instead of cooling it). I would position the pto leavers higher on the fender ( my coat keeps getting caught when I climb off). A rear and a front hydraulic outlet would be nice. A larger or better positioned diff lock pedal. A volt meter and oil gauge would be nicer then idiot lights. the front quick hitch should be redesigned ( interferes with front bumper and loader). A turbo kit should be available instead of installing a bigger engine. My toy is insured under my house policy with no extra cost. The catch is that it must not be more than 25hp. Some insurance companies have a lower hp requirement. And the biggest complaint is the travel speed, it should have a snale and a turtle on the sticker. I almost forgot, the flip seat is a pain to change from front to rear.

3-split brakes on right
4-head lights that clears the loader
5-flip cooling fan
6-pto leavers position
7-hydraulic outlet
8-diff lock pedal
9-front quick hitch
10-volts and oil gauges
11-turbo kit
12-travel speed 3rd gear
13-flip seat

Please don't get me wrong! I love my Bx 24, each time I use it, I get amazed at how much can come out of such a small package. When it comes time to do work around the house, I always have to fight with my son, not for him to get on, but for him to get off. I never get to drive it any more.

I saw that Kubota made some changes on the bx 24 after owners complained on some problems. So add to the list, you never know, maybe Kubota designers might read this list and produce the ultimate BX26!

You have obviously given a lot of thought about potential improvements to this great little workhorse.
I especially like your suggestions for:

-all metal hood and fenders
-split brake pedals (that could actually STOP tractor, and HOLD it on a slope)
-head lights that clear the loader
-being able to reverse the cooling fan in winter
-PTO leavers positioned higher
-relocated differential lock pedal

We also need:

-grip handles that stay firmly in place in all weather conditions
-an HST adjustment to correct those abrupt reverse stops
-a smoother engaging PTO that will not break shearpins when engaging that rear snowblower
-lowering the foldable ROPS by about an inch so that it will clear a standard car garage door opening
-better protection of the HST plastic fan

A BX 26 would be worth just about 50 cents to me for the work that I do so I would not build one.Just chidding. It is interesting that people take a keen interest in how equipment is designed.

Just to clear up any possible confusion, there is not a replacment to the BX24 comming. There will be a BX2650 which is an addition to the sub-compact line, a "super" sub compact if you will. The BX24 will remain unchanged.

You gotta remeber, most of the things you list add expense to the tractor. If you add expense, your not too far away from a B-Series machine.

What B series machine?? :D :D The B7xxx machines have been scarce as hen's teeth around here since last fall, and any possible replacement is still rumor. Sure there is a replacement for the BX24 coming. :) They just have to redo the L's again first.

I would like to know how much money Kubota spent on replacing thos cracking plastic fenders, lever knobs, instrument clusters, seats, battery covers and so on.. I thik it would be alot cheaper if the design was right the first time.

I chose the BX series for it's compact seize, the B series was to imposing for me. I don't have a landscaping company, hoby farm or rental store. The BX is the perfect toy for the home owner.

Tool. In case anyone's wife ever sees this...it is a tool.

(Just don't tell them how much fun it is)

Funny...metal fenders being an upgrade...now what BX machine had that before...hmmm, lemme think...

The point was exhausted on the previously mentioned thread, but I still think my 22 hp is amply sufficient, the size is right, and with all the things they did on the new generation, the BX line absolutely rocks. If they'd watch the quality control (knobs, hour meter, etc.) and make metal fenders and deck standard (again) across all the models, and provide some factory lights on the ROPS, it'd be near perfect. There are other good suggestions out there, but like Mr. MessickFarmEquip mentioned, you probably wouldn't pay for it. It's like having a Honda Civic that, when loaded up, costs 50% more than a base Accord. Sure, it's loaded, but at some point you have to consider what you're missing in the larger car for the same money...

I think the decks on the new BX series are metal again, and the rear fenders separate. QC is vital, and unfortunately, I've read at least as many, and probably more complaints about the BXxx50/BX24 as I have about any competing brands. Marvin has a point about what it must have cost Kubota to not do it right the first time.

I'm with Keith on this one. The list of what the BX does RIGHT just keeps on going.... Add that to the compact size, and I have a machine that is easy to transport to the job, and will get in places others wouldn't dream of. As I get better at using it, I find that my biggest limitation is my own lack of skill at using it:eek:
