How would you feel?

The more i hear about how some dealers treat their customers the better i feel about the dealership i got my BX from. I took mine back for a oil leak on the front axle, i told them i tor the boots on the drive line and asked them to repair it for me while thy worked on it and since it was my fault they tore i would pay for it. They put new boots on and when i asked how much they told me not o worry about it it was under warranty. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif cant say enough good about them. And they fixed my fuel leak also..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The fitting of the tiller to your tractor didn't do any harm to your tractor so I don't see this as an issue. The leaving it outside while they waited for the part is an issue and the 6 week delay is also an issue. After 6 weeks, I don't think that I would charge for shop supplies and I would make certain that it was delivered back squeaky clean and waxed.

Whenever people tell me to come back later when I have more complaints saved up are when the warranty is about to expire I know I am getting the runaround.
As to the tiller, that would not bother me. However, how can they measure for the PTO shaft with the tiller mounted on the BX if the tiller was to large for the BX and intended for some other tractor??, The BX required shaft length is different from say a 2410/7500 etc. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
You should have had the tractor brought home and the fuel sender repaired another time, frankly, I think I would have to have a talk with them fellers.
On the other hand, just clean her up, detail the rust spots and get on with life, tell that dealer that the next tractor you purchase or recommend for purchase won't be from them unless they remove that "supplies" charge. After all, maybe you should charge rental for your tractor being used for a measuring stick. J

Not sure if all tractor dealers charge for "misc shop supplies" but all of the auto service garages I've been do. Whats $3.38? Thats for the towels, WD-40, whatever.
I was quoted a charge af "about $150" to do my 50 hour service when I bought my tractor. When I did have the service done, the bill was $231. They credited an hour of labor when I complained. Bill came in at about $156.

6 weeks? i waited 8 for my sender when i had bx1800,mater of fact i waited weeks for any part i orded including fuel filter, thats from a good dealer on rt13 in N.H. thats when i said i'd never own a kubota again and bouht the massey. I don't blame the dealer but kubota. the dealer always got parts for other equipment fine. problems i hade were big tank, little tank, sender to tank, air cleaner strap, steering cylinder. wire broke on temp sender. in 300 hrs im glad its gone. nice mowing tractor but un reliable if you ask me.

I'd be just a little ticked off about using the tractor for the pto shaft adjustment, and a whole lot ticked off about leaving it out in the rain. I see you're from Illinois. I'm in Green Garden Township (Frankfort, IL) Where are you at?

A good dealer will bust his... er, try real hard... to please his customer on parts. My dealer once tracked down a hard-to-find part at a dealer somewhere up in New England and had it shipped in for me.

And, using a customer's machine for anything without asking permission is unacceptable.

i was wondering the same thing? and i most certainly would have a problem waiting 6 weeks for a small part. and the $3.83 for shop supplies would really burn my dis here!!!! i would send them a bill for the use of your tractor for measurment for $3.83 and tell them to call it even. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I'm one of those guys that tries real hard NOT to burn bridges behind me. You may not be happy with the $3.83 or the fact that the tractor was left outside. And you are certainly welcome to take your tractor wherever you wish the next time for service. But remember, if you treat the dealer right you can always go back later if you want or need to. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think you should call the dealer and thank him for not charging your storage while your tractor sat on his lot for six weeks... waiting for him to fix it /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm serious of course! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Charges for shop supplies is just another way for the dealer to take some of your money and put it in his pocket, hoping to make you think he deseves it.
