My TC29D started to make a howling noise in the back. I just changed my Hydro Fluid about three weeks ago and now after 15 hours this started. If I put the clutch in the noise goes away. Can anyone tell me what they think the noise is. I bought Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid from Sam's Club.

Murph, have you had a big change in temperature there? If it has become much cooler over the last few days, then the problem might be increased hydro transmission whine, but it should go away if you stop movement. If the transmission continues to make the noise when you shift the range to neutral, then it's pretty much gotta be the hydro. I'd try neutral and then hold the pedal to maximum forward and maximum reverse to see if the noise is the same, less, or not at all. If this makes the noise get much quieter, I'd guess it could be the fluid. If the noise stays the same, then it could be something else binding inside the transmission.
You also might try the PTO to ON/OFF to see if that changes things.
When I changed my fluid a few weeks ago, I used the fluid from Tractor Supply and I noticed it was a lot thicker than NH fluid. I bet the fluid from Sam's was too. I haven't noticed any problem, but our temperatures are typically much warmer here and the viscosity of the heavier fluid may not be a problem. In you climate, it sure could make a difference.
