I bet my 10' HD howse mower is 2x as strong as my JD 1517 batwing..
Most of the deck material is 3/8.. uprights are 1/2 and have some tie plates that are 3/4 to reinforce some areas, hs some box tubing as support... in contrast.. the JD is mostly 1/4 except for areas where it is 1/2 and a pitiful few places of 1" mostly along the hinge area.
I've ha to do lots more fixing ont he jd than on the howse.
