Yanmar 2020D
I am seriously considering adding this very expensive option to my YM 2020. I am in need of shoulder surgery (putting it off as much as I can) and my tractor is not doing me any good when I am using the loader and using everything I have to turn the steering wheel.

I have not spoken to Hoye yet but I wanted to ask if anyone has installed this. The Hoye website says they designed it for and install it on Koyker loaders, but I have a V-tek V2 loader.
Anyone have any thoughts or expereince or other options? Does this put undue stress on the steering components that were not designed to have power steering?

I recently purchased a ym226d with power steering and its like night/day in the steering..I can load up the bucket with gravel and turn with one finger no lie, its that easy...I don't think mine is factory, maybe, no idea, I do know it would be worth your investment especially if you have a bad shoulder.

The kit is only available for the bigger tractors (YM1700 up I think) and those are usually pretty beefy up front. I would be worried if I was putting one on a YM1300D or even a 1500D, for example, since those already have a fairly limited front end. The YM2020 should have no problems. The cylinder should be dialed in so that it does not really push any harder than you can normally steer... it just makes steering easier on the operator. It also saves wear & tear on the steering box.

I think the 226 had a dealer installed power steering option. I think it uses the same style cylinder as the kit that we sell. Keep in mind that the delivery time on the kits varies a lot depending on what else the manufacturer is doing at the time (we don't build these) . The last batch took us over a month to get :( The DIY cylinders are in stock though and ship the same day.

Please tell, what is the working stroke on those cylinders?

Great!

ready to order!

(if the stroke is useful ;-)

Still working on it :)

Ever have one of those projects that seems really simple... ? I have not had the opportunity to spend a whole lot of time on it yet but we are, so far, unable to get the cylinder to extend.... at all. The cylinders are new and very tight and without hooking up to tractor hydraulics- we cant move it. Not even compressed air will budge them (yes, we have the valve in the correct position.. and even bypassed it to be sure). The next round will be to use a come-along and, if that fails, we will just have to hook one up to a tractor's hydraulics & run it in and out to measure it.

Any chance that someone here reading this has already hooked their cylinder up and can tell us how long the stroke is? :)

Would never have guessed they would "hydro lock" ,

Sorry to make it a production, but then, if it doesn't have the motion at my end, that would be a problem too...

Your efforts are appreciated!

No, it is not locked. Those small cylinders like that are just really tight fitting and I just have not had a lot of time to go mess with it. We did get it to move out some by clamping one end in a vise and standing on the other end but the phones started ringing again and we are short handed this week. You would think "oh just pull the rod out and measure"... not so much :) . We can (and will) get it out & measured. Just not the 5 minute project I anticipated.

You would have your tractor hydraulics to move it though.

How much is a bare cylinder Aaron?

I dont like to post actual prices here since thy always change but the link is below. I don't have a whole lot left. It was just a one time buy.

If the stroke came up short, I could make those long swinging turns, just like now, only with much less effort ;-)

Resurrecting this thread again. Still thinking about this and it might be a good project over the winter - although working in a freezing garage is not my idea of fun.

Hoye - any chance you have any customers who have installed this on a 2020 that would be willing to share some pictures or their experience on how the install went? I have the V2 loader and since this is a custom part, I don't want to end up with an very expensive pile of parts that I can't get to fit.

I put one on a 2020 two wheel drive that has bush hog loader. Maybe in the next day or two I'll get a chance to post some pictures.

Eddie, How u been ? Haven't seen you here is a while. How are things up north ?

Hello Ken,
Health has not been great. The old ticker can't seem to stay in rhythm.
It's cold up north right now, should get better by the weekend but then we are expecting severe weather.
Haven't done much in the last few months with the yanmar so I haven't been around site much.

Hey Scotty,
Haven't forgot the pictures, been very busy with Dr. appointments. Will get them for you.

I hate to hear you have had some health problems. I guess it comes as we get older. I'm 55 and have been lucky thus far. No major issues. When I don't see folks around for a while, it gets me to wondering if all is ok. It's good to see you around and, I hope your health problems improve ..I'll let you get on with Scotty's issues/questions

Sorry for the late reply to this. Unfortunately, we sold our last cylinder earlier this week and will not be able to get more in the foreseeable future. We can still get just the cylinder that comes in the kit but it is quite a bit more expensive.

Just my luck - Aaron - is there anyway you can share the cylinder part number so I can try to hunt it down and purchase it separately ????? My shoulder is Killing me!

I would be happy to share any info I had but they didn't have any part number or anything like that... from what i can remember. Just a made in turkey sticker or India or something I think. I believe they are custom built for the kit.

Ive seen some generic ps cylinders with integrated valves on ebay. Something there might work.
