Changed my oil for first time in my HPX Diesel. Had a real hard time getting the oil filter loose. Maybe cause it was the first time, but there is little room in there to work. All my filter wrenches were too big. Tried putting a hose clamp on the filter and use it for leverage. A hour later still at it. Finally got it loose. Sent an email to my dealer this morning to see if they sell a wrench that fits the end of the filter. My 455 lawn and garden uses the same filter. Got a message back that one was in the mail to me free of charge. What service.

Would you buy you Diesel HPX again?
That is the service all JD dealers should give!

I use the type that fits over the end of the filter and then use a 3/8 rachet to turn it. The first time was hard but it gets easier. The HPX actually has more room to work than my 6x4 Diesel did.

I usually use Rotella T 15w40 but last winter I tried the Rotella Synthetic 5w40. It really helped starting and smoothed out the idle when cold. I've used it for 3 oil changes now. Since I operate in so much dust, I change oil every 50 hours and change the air filter every 100 hours.
