I went to start it and it did start, but it seemed to run for a few seconds, then started sputtering, then finally dying after running out of gas (I think).
Cranks fine, battery is hot.
I checked spark and there is plenty of blue spark. It fires up for with starter fluid. I know that it is not the idle jet clogged in the carb. It has ran and idled fine for years since I put the new carb on it. It doesn't sit for long periods. My thinking is that if it was the fuel filter, it would start and idle, but conk out when running at speed.
So it leads me to this.
It has a fuel pump of this style.
AM876265 John Deere Fuel Pump 6x4 Gator 4x2 HPX 4x4 HPX 4x4 Trail HPX Gator | eBay
It costs 1/3 as much as the stock OEM part at JDeere.
I can turn the key on and actually feel a sort of "thump" while holding my hand on this fuel pump. Is is supposed to run all the time or intermittent?
Has anyone else replaced one? I hate to waste $50.
