A 16-year-old Cypress Lake High School student, who wrestled a loaded revolver away from a teen threatening to shoot, is being punished.

I would be careful about forming an opinion based on information from a news article. As a 28 year police officer I can assure you that there are at least three sides to every story. Generally speaking, a suspect, and/or their parents, are not the must reliable witnesses.

That being said, schools now tend to over react in any situation even remotely involving a gun, or even a picture of a gun.

You left out the worst offender for inaccuracies in a news story, the media.

Even when the facts are presented correctly, they still often manage to report them in an erroneous manor.

Stupid is as stupid does. The town should clean out that school board for allowing this to happen. If the teen was part of the argument that escalated into the fight, then this suspension may be a good one. The school says he won't cooperate with the investigation. There may be more to this than what it looks like, but it's obvious that to all the parents who didn't have bury their children this teen and the others who disarmed the idiot with the gun should be rewarded and regarded as heros.

They pass knee jerk laws to protect the future, when this kid was trying to protect someone elses. I think it sends mixed signals to young people on what is acceptable in a situation.

The article says the kid was suspended because he refused to cooperate with the investigation.

What is more odd, is that the kid with a gun one school bus, who tried to shoot someone, is NOT suspended. :confused3:

A kid got suspended for wearing a USMC shirt that has crossed rifles as part of the emblem. A kid who tried to shoot other kids is going back to school? :confused3:

Apparently the kid should have relied on his "conflict resolution skills" as he and others were being gunned down. Welcome to the brave new world.

Glad my kids are raised. What a mixed up,stupidly run world we live in! My last son was home-schooled by my wife and later,online teachers.He did well and even though he has his problems, was spared some of the nuttiness of grade and high school. don-ohio ^)
