HST movment with foot off

On page 7-13 of the CK20 operators manual there is a warning that says IF YOUR TRACTOR MOVES WHILE ON LEVEL GROUND WITH YOUR FOOT OFF THE CONTROL PEDAL, DO NOT OPERATE THE TRACTOR. CONSULT YOUR KIOTI DEALER.

My CK20 creeps occaisionally at very low speed when I take my foot off the pedal. As I recall it always moves backwards when it does happen. Given all the to and froing I do I'd say it happens about once every couple hundred times I take my foot off the pedal. Tapping the pedal the opposite direction stops the creep. Haven't thought of having it looked at yet.

I have a HST20 that developed the creeping problem and I found the following adjustment: Directly under the HST pedal there is linkage. There is a cylinder that has a plunger-like rod running through it as part of that linkage. It can be adjusted by backing off the jam nut that is on the threaded part of that rod and turning the rod to move it's position within the cylinder-the adjustment lengthens or shortens the rod. I found the adjustment to be very sensitive and if the creep is forward, it is very easy to over adjust and make it creep backwards. As a mater of fact, I never could get mine to not creep, either one way or the other, so I stopped the forward creep and will continue to put up with the reverse creep until I can get the tractor back to the dealer. If anyone has better luck with the adjustment, let me know how you did it! (There may be some additional adjustment that I don't know about, since I do not have a service manual either!)

My CK30hst had the same slow forward creep. I found the adjustment the same as mgarner. Hard to get centered if that's what you want to call it. Played with it for a while and couldn't get a full stop. One time good from reverse and then good from forward but never at the same time. The linkage appeared to be sticking or a little stiff, so I lubed all the pivot points of the linkage with spray lithium grease and then went back to adjusting. Works perfect now. There must not be enough centering pressure to combat stiff linkage pivots. I'll now add this linkage lubing to my normal service routine.

Thanks, VictorW for the tip! I adjusted some more on mine after I posted today and had the same lack of complete success. I will try the lub thing tomorrow and see if that will help. Can you tell the points where you applied lub?

mgarner, it's been a few months since I did the lubing. Mine started to drift after winter snow plowing so I figured the wet snow and other nice winter slop must have gotten into the pivot points. Everything I lubed was under the floor to the right of the tranny case. I just kept working the HST pedal back and forth and lubed everything I saw that had movement with another part. I think you'll find all the spots. I can take another look at mine if you think you missed something.

Thanks, VictorW. I got the spray can of lithium grease and sprayed everything that looked connected to the linkage, then readjusted, but still have some of the same creeping problem. Maybe it will clear up after the grease has had a chance to work in. Mine stops quickly when you release the pedal, but will start to creep a few seconds later. I don't have a trailer yet, so it will not be easy to get it back to the dealer. By the way, the dealer's mechanic did not know how to adjust the linkage when I first talked to him. He looked at the service manual and still could not figure it out, so I don't how much will be accomplished if I do get it back to him. Maybe someone here will come up with a solution. I will keep check.

MG,
Maybe you should try a penetrating spray like Blaster, then after it is worked in, hit it with the lithium. I don't think lithium is great for freeing up rust or corrosion. I have had Blaster work on stuff that nothing else would touch, and the spray shoots a stream over 2'....makes it easy to get those hard to reach spots.

Thanks M7. I will keep trying things. I am beginning to think that there is some problem other than adjustment.
