HST slow to neutral

/ HST slow to neutral #11
Well boys, I went and talked with Jim at Emerich sales and he fixed my leaking fuel sending unit and my slooooow to return pedal.

Took about 10 minutes for the pedal and about 1.5 for the sending unit to be replacing. He showed me how to adjust the pedal linkage on the spring to get a "harder pedal" and how to adjust "the adj plate" to return to center. Boy, it stops like mad now. Gary, did a GREAT job. All the spraying of this and that did ZERO. I wish they had this adjustment in the book!

the sending unit was easy except for the billion bolts, nets etc to remove. Even got my filters replaced while he had it apart.

I will post a quick and dirty webpage if someone wants some instructions on how to do it.

Yes Mike,
I would love to get the info on the adjustment plate and linkage for the slow hst pedal. I have the same issue and have just been living with it. Thanks for taking the time.

I webpage will be up by Sunday Night. Keep checking since I might get some free time this Saturday with the rain....unless I am messing with the reef tank or shotting.

Thanks a bunch Mike. Very well described. I'll try it this weekend and post back if it fixes my pedal as well.

Thanks for the post! I'll see if I can apply it to my MF GC2300 which suffers from the same problem. (Actually, I've come to consider it the "free cruise control" that so many of you are paying extra for these days...)

I would try the spring one and see how that works. Do not do both at the same time. Then try the plate adj after. Only need to move small amount.

This Spring adj works on a GC2310 MF.
for the front now I am looking to tighten the reverse.
I f it never gets better this sure help me

Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well it's been about 15 hours since my spring transplant repair, and it still works 100%. No more heart stopages. The stopping is abrupt if you just pull your foot from the HST, so a little gentle-releasing makes decelerating smooth. Since I don't hold the pedal flat-out in either range normally, the increased effort to push the pedal goes un-noticed. I'm just glad the dang thing reliably stops when I want it to. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
