HST Transmission Filter

Have a L5240 HSTC and coming up to the 50 hr service. It calls for changing the hydraulic filter and the HST filter. I have everything on hand except the HST filter. I'm not able to find a part number for the transmission filter. Can anyone lead me to the right filter?
The manual calls for completely draining all the Super UDT to change these filters. Seems I should be able to drain out only part of it, change hydraulic and transmission filters and refill. Does anyone have any experience with this they'd be willing to share?

Kubota dealer where you buy filters will give you correct part numbers. For L3940, HST filter is HHTA0-37710, Hydraulic filter is HHTA0-5990.

Option 1) Manual states for 50 hour service all you need to do is change filters, not fluid. Pull filters off quickly, replace quickly, and top off fluid. Manual states fluid does not have to be changed until 400 hours.

Option 2) What I did. 400 hours is a long time for me. I wanted as much manufacturing/assembly debris out of my system as possible. I changed oil (SUDT) and replaced filters at 50 hours. Next service at 450 hours. I do about 75 hours a year, so that puts my next change about 5 years away. I also changed front axle at same time.

Did you know there is a service kit for your tractor. Comes with all filters, hyd, hst, fuel, oil, air primary, air seconday. Dealer or e-bay has them.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried to get the part number on Messick's web site, but it lists only the engine oil, air,fuel and hydraulic filters for my tractor-no transmission filter. I guess I'll have to patronize the nearest Kubota dealer---not good.
Thanks for the reassurance that I can change these filters without draining down all the SUDT. Any idea how much fluid I'll end up draining if I'm "quick" (not likely).

I recently did the 50 hour service on my 2010 L3240.My manual indicated that the engine oil and filter be changed as well as the HST trans filter.The hydraulic filter does not need to be changed until 200 hours.To change the trans filter I lifted that side of the tractor up with the backhoe outrigger.This allowed me to remove the filter without spilling any fluid.A good floor jack would work just as well.

I'm still looking for a part # for the HST filter. It occurs to me that it may be the same number as the hydraulic filter. They look the same but are painted gray so I can't see any part #s. I'll talk to a local dealer.

What a clever idea! I'm going to try that next time I need to crawl under the M59. This old dog can still learn a new trick. Thanks for the tip.

Heard it said that Kubota makes filters, oft times, with the same threads, but distinctly different drain hole designs. Supposedly, this is to help keep it straight, which one goes where???
