HST Whine - normal?

Can you spare a minute to help a new-to-HST Kubota owner?
When engaging the trans, or when power is applied (as in going up a grade), the HST whines.Is this the norm , or ????

Or is the only whining coming from me?

The whine is normal, but there is much more of it when the brake is on.

Andy, Patrick W. is right on. A considerable amount of whine is normal, but you might go ahead and set the parking brake and ease down on the hydro pedal to learn the difference in the sound when you take off without releasing the brake. That way you can learn the difference deliberately instead of accidentally like most of us have done./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Like someone wrote here before, there are two types of Kubota owners--- those who have driven around with the parking brake on and those who lie about never having done it!
